A New & Exciting Frontier

Greetings and welcome to the Johns Hopkins Brady Urological Institute Blog!

The James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute and Department of Urology at Johns Hopkins Hospital is the premiere urological institution in the nation - we have been named the #1 in Urology in the US News & World Report Hospital Rankings 22 of the last 23 years.

Ninety-nine years ago to the day, January 21, 1915, the Brady Urological Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital was opened to patients.  The Brady has a long tradition of delivering excellent urological care, dating back to our founding directer, Hugh Hampton Young.  In that tradition, we plan on delivering and disseminating our urologic knowledge to the newest generation of patients and physicians through social media.

We will post regularly on Twitter (@brady_urology), Facebook (Brady Urology) and this Blog.  We will address timely urological issues and share with you some of our history and achievements as we continue to deliver exceptional urological care and further the field through ground-breaking research.

We cannot address specific patient questions through these media, however if there is a topic or general urological question that you have, please do not hesitate to reach out.

  1. I would like to know if you have plans to do clinical trials on Interstitial cystitis with stem cells? I run 2 groups of IC patients on FB and there are many, many more and we have women going to these clinics having the stem cell treatment done with success but we would like to see clinical trials done so eventually insurance would cover it. Most of these women don't have the $7,500 to fork out to these clinics. There has been estimated to be well over 4 million who suffer this horrid disease and there is no treatment that works except to take narcotics and instillations. Some can use the intermit and some can use gabapentin but most are suffering everyday searching for a cure. I myself have to cath at least 5 times a day with the lidocaine/bicarb/heparin instillation and it has quit working for me. The pain is a 8-10 for most women daily and most have lost their job, their husband because they cannot have sex, their home, and live off SSI if they can get it. Men also suffer from this disease. Why has there not been anything new except for Botox in 15 years? We need help. Many have committed suicide from the govt. stepping in and them losing their pain meds. Many are told it is in their head but Harvard put out a study saying the pain is as bad as stage 4 cancer. It is that bad. Please help us ...Do some trials on IC with Stem Cells and help us be cured. Thank you for your time. ...Julie Osenton Admin of IC and Pelvic Issues

  2. I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
liver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
